Image-to-Image AI and Reference Image Editing

Edit an image with a text prompt and reference image in MyImage. Learn how to preserve a subject, revise a background, compare versions, and download your result.

Guide an edit with an image and a prompt

Image-to-image creation combines a reference image with text describing the result you want. In MyImage, upload an authorized reference in the generator, or continue editing an available generated version. The reference guides the new image; inspect the result because shape, color, text, and identity can change.

Use reference editing when the source image helps communicate your subject or composition. For a completely new scene without a specific source, start with text-to-image generation instead.

A practical editing sequence

  1. Open the generator and choose a supported model. Compare models and credit charges if needed.
  2. Add a reference image you have permission to upload, or select an available generated version for editing.
  3. Describe the details to retain and the changes to make. Keep the first request focused on one change.
  4. Choose supported settings, sign in, review the credit quote, and submit. The website's current rates are the same for text-to-image and image-to-image at the same model and resolution.
  5. Compare the result with the reference and previous versions, then download the version you want to keep.

A background replacement prompt

Keep the ceramic mug's blue color, handle position, and overall shape from the reference. Replace the background with a seamless light-gray studio surface. Use soft light from the left. Add no text, logos, or extra objects.

Check the handle, rim, proportions, and reflections after generation. If one detail changed unintentionally, identify it explicitly in the next request. Each submitted revision can consume additional credits.

Keep version comparisons useful

Name the change you are testing and keep the model and settings stable. Review the reference beside the result rather than relying on memory. For products, verify that generated details do not misrepresent the item; for a layout, confirm that cropping leaves enough room for the final text.

The product photography tutorial covers reference checks, while the poster tutorial explains composition and typography space. The getting-started guide covers your first complete creation session.

Access and downloads

Generation requires JavaScript, a signed-in account, and sufficient credits. A reference upload is not a generation by itself: describe your edit and submit when ready. Generated artwork is stored online for up to 14 days. Download important versions and keep your own backups.
